Nong Prue police in the Pattaya area responded after a collision between a woman motorist and a pick-up outside a convenience store by the Mitrkamon lights.

Dead at the scene beside her own black Honda CRV was 47 year old Busara, reported Siam Rath.

Also at the scene was a white Toyota Vigo pick-up that was driven by 30 year old Kiatsak.

The media said he appeared to be drunk.

His passenger Lakkhana, 29, was in a state of shock.

Clear CCTV showed that the victim had parked outside the store and was going behind her vehicle as she walked to the store to make a purchase.

She was hit and crushed to death.

Lakkhana said that Kiatsak has an underlying health condition that requires constant medication.

He had swerved to avoid a motorcycle that cut in front, lost control and hit the woman.

Kiatsak was subjected to an alcohol test and one for the presence of drugs.

Police took the CCTV footage in as evidence.

If you saw the video on the TV news, you can clearly see there was no "swerving" to avoid anything, nor was there any action oh her part to try and avoid the accident, it was almost as if both the driver and the lady were just oblivious to the fact that there was going to be a severe accident, and neither moved a muscle to avoid it.  No braking, no jumping behind the car or on top of it, nobody reacted at all.  Perplexing.  RIP dear lady.

Robert McNamara, Secretary of Defense for the US during most of the Vietnam war, once claimed that the reason the US lost the war in Vietnam was because "life is cheap in Vietnam." So it seems life is also cheap in Thailand by the careless way most drivers conduct themselves.

If said medication impairs his driving then he should be jailed for manslaughter.

No sympathy.

Those convenience stores can be dangerous places,  always be on the lookout.

The ones near me are like a circus area, with limited parking taken over by food sellers and other hawkers, half a dozen soi dogs etc etc... in town they create a road hazard often exacerbated by people double parking to pop inside.
