PRIME MINISTER PRAYUT Chan-o-cha today (Mar.2) confirmed monthly pay for all local administrative officials in the provinces nationwide will be increased across the board later this year.

Prayut told an audience of local government officials in Udon Thani that Interior Minister Anupong Paojinda will issue a statement in a royal gazette on Monday to confirm the increased monthly pay for all local officials ranging from those attached to subdistrict administrative organisations to all levels of municipalities throughout the country effective October.

Anupong also confirmed all subdistrict administrative bodies, better known as Or Bor Tor, will be upgraded to municipalities in near future to get on par with international rules for development of local governments.

For instance, the monthly pay for head of a subdistrict administrative organisation or Nayok Or Bor Tor currently amounts to a range of 21,860 to 26,080 baht, depending on a total of revenue which the subdistrict administrative body may have earned in a year whilst lower-ranking officials of the Or Bor Tor earn proportionately less pay.

The president of a subdistrict council currently earns a range of 6,630 to 12,140 baht whilst lower-ranking officials of the council earn proportionately less pay.
