Zeid
is it allowed to own an ultra light and fly it out of the rice fields in Issan away from the main cities, to be exact close to teh ###### between Nongbualamphu and Khon Kean. Does G airspace exist in Thailand, and is it the same as the FAA?

Check out this fine www page on all sorts of flying in Thailand: http://thaiflyingclub.com/ Also you might drive down to Chum Pae, almost on your routing, and ask the folks there, evidently they have an ultralight: http://thaiflyingclub.com/linkairportultralightchumpae.html Mac
jumnien
I own a Zenair CH701 and fly it out of a rice field (registered as an airstrip) near Hua Hin. There are airstrips all over Thailand and ultralight flying is wonderful here. Contact and go flying with some pilots already doing so and see if it is for you! Sport Flying Association of Thailand is a good place to start and Eastern Flying Club in Pattaya.

How about the short runway in the middle of a lake? http://thaiflyingclub.com/linkairportultralighttayang.html Where's your airstrip? Just curious, what's the tail # on your Zenair?? jumnien
I fly over the short runway in the middle of a lake quite regularly, near Tha Yang. They are building some kind of a small resort but it's not registered as an airstrip yet. My plane is HS-ANN and I imported it new two years ago from Czech Republic. I love it! The airstrip I am based at is called "Bang Chong" and is listed on TFC website. It's 17 nautical miles north of Hua Hin airport 500 meters from the beach (inland, of course!). Thailand is a great place to fly and needs more people to do it; then it will be even better!
