A total of 52,808 students dropped out during the second semester of the 2022 academic year, according to Education Permanent Secretary Atthaphon Sangkhawasee.

Of those, 21,364 are from schools under the Office of the Basic Education Commission, 7,138 from schools under the Office of Private Education Promotion Commission, 2,428 from schools under local administrative organisations, 897 from schools operated by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and 20,981 vocational students.

No reasons were provided as to why the students dropped out.

There are 52,784 schools and 52,808 students dropped out. That's about 1 student per school. Why is this even newsworthy?

'No reason for the dropouts.'

No reason for this story either.

Probably as they just spent 2 years on line realising that Thailand is quite a small country, that there is history outside of Thailand and that unless they are connected, they will never achieve anything in life

Give the mind-numbing soul-crushing methods of Thai educational "system" I'm surprised the number isn't far higher

Or they looked up Thailand’s ranking in the PISA EDUCATIONAL TABLES

The article doesn't say what age the students who dropped out were. If I recall correctly, school students don't have to stay at school after M3. They can go and get a job if they want.

The majority, I'll bet, would be boys born with the lazy idle gene nurtured by their mummies and grannies.
