Move Forward Party leader Pita Lim-jaroen-rat expressed concern about media freedom after a local pay-TV provider blocked a BBC profile about him.  “Press freedom is something that needs to be rectified and made tangible,” he said when asked about the issue  He added At least three foreign news outlets had been censored when carrying news about Thailand.


In an interview with the BBC’s  Jonathan Head, Mr Pita was asked to explain why his party wishes to amend Section 112, Mr Pita replied”“The sentiment of the era has changed,” 

 

In Pathum Thani, a woman  who purchased a house from a bank, was fatally shot by the enraged former owner who refused to vacate the property.  The new owner had arrived to discuss leaving the house, but he allegedly resorted to gunfire, instantly killing her on the street outside..
Police cordoned off the premises, to negotiate the surrender of the  65-year-old former owner who was hiding inside.

The Ministry of Transport announced that a month-long trial run of the Yellow Line monorail system will start on Saturday, running from Lat Phrao to Samrong, via 23 stations over a distance of just over 30 kilometers. The initial fares will range from 15 to 45 baht.  


Meanwhile there’s a push for a 2.6 kilometer extension to both the yellow and green lines to be built to enable commuters to change between the two services rather than having to use the blue line to connect between those services.

An 11-year-old girl in Malaysia was admitted to the hospital after showing serious side effects from eating chocolate biscuits made by her father that were suspected to be laced with cannabis. 


The girl experienced shortness of breath, dizziness and nausea and was recovering. Police arrested the victim's 38-year-old father, who worked as a rubber tapper.
