I find this much more interesting -from the same source-:

"On Jul. 6, the interim government approved the draft of a new constitution that voters will have a chance to ratify or reject in a referendum scheduled for Aug. 19.

On Jul. 10, the Bangkok Post reported that the government has launched a program to promote the new charter. Recruited volunteers known as "mother hens" are told to instruct "chickens"—community leaders—on the benefits and flaws of the drafted document by visiting them at their homes. There are about 7,000 "mother hens" already working, and they are expected to train at least another 45,000 people to spread the word.

Hmmm... :o

Ah, the power of statistics! Note that you can also interpret the same stats as: 46.4% of Bangkok Thais say that Thailand's situation is the same, or better than before.

And the number above don't even add up to 100% -- where did other 18.7% go? :o It also doesn't say who the pollers surveyed, or how many people they asked. If I do a survey of Thaksin's family, I'm pretty sure most of them will say the situation has gotten a lot worse. If I do a survey of the family of military junta members, I'm sure they'll say things are looking up! :D

"Source: Bangkok University Research Institute

Methodology: Interviews with 1,258 adults in Bangkok, conducted from Jun. 29 to Jul. 4, 2007. No margin of error was provided."

1,258 adults is not a big figure in a city with some 10 million (?) people.

....any poll is to be taken with a Thai grain of salt. :o
