The Thais prefer loud canned music to the sound of waves lapping on the beach, so I guess they're prefer diesel-stench fire shows to something cosmically awsome like a meteor shower.

At 10.30 pm the event will be just above the horizon. But the shower is expected throughout the night so it may be that if you are out and about from about 2.30 am Sunday, and if sky is clear,glance upward and you might see a 'flash or two' (apart from any other 'flashes' you might have in mind🙂). 

One of local airlines could organize a flight to nowhere at night to see the meteor shower and then land a couple of hours later... Only window seats available.
