Ms Outlook, Block Domain Of Sender

Featured Replies

Does anyone know of a free utility, plug-in, hack for MS outlook that will block the domain of a sender?

it annoys me to know end that I can't just block a domain with the hit of a button or a right click.

I know i can block a sender with a right click or a custom button on the tool bar (useful for bogus stuff from hotmail, or yahoo accounts),but i want to block everything after the '@'

Currently it's a hassle copying the end of the e-mail address, opening up spam options, clicking on the blocked senders tab and then adding it.

It blows my mind why this is not a built in menu option or tool.

Oh, I'm using Outlook 2003 by the way.

Can I ask what version of Outlook you are using...

If you are using outlook 2003 you can :

Right Click the name of the email you wish to block

Go to Junk Mail Fliter Box (about 11 down on the drop down menu)

Go to Junk Mail Options

Go to Blocked Senders Tab

Click "Add" Tab and this will give you the "domain block" option (if you just type @NAME OF DOMAIN YOU WANT TO BLOCK)

Just be careful : the majority of spam I recieve is from the likes of hotmail etc

Also, a few tips

1 : when you set the Junk mail filters make sure you tell it to add it to the JUNK MAIL FOLDER rather than perminantly delete... from what I have been reliably informed if you perminantly delete emails in JUNK your machine will not "learn" to continue to make them as JUNK and you will continue to recieve them...

2: NEVER reply or click a link in a JUNK mail, or ask tp be removed.. the majority of JUNK is sent to random email addresses, if you reply or do anything in the mail they know it is real.

3: Check your JUNK MAIL folder reguarly and make sure you add users whom you know to your "Safe Senders" list so that they never get caught in JUNK again.

Hope this helps

ED :

Just read what you said and it seems you are already doing this... sorry... but maybe useful for others

yup that's what i do now, didn't feel like writing out the long version, which you did... Helpful for others, thanks.

Let's hope some one has a good short cut, it's painful when you do that litany of tasks every time you block an e-mail domain.
