MOVE FORWARD ADVISER Pita Limjaroenrat warned the government that his party will file a no-confidence motion early next year if clear answers are not given during the current fiscal 2024 budget bill deliberation in Parliament, Thai Rath newspaper said this afternoon (Dec. 15).

 

Move Forward leader Chaithawat Tulathon will be filing this censure motion either in first or second quarter of the new year depending on the Pheu Thai-led coalition government’s clarification of issues raised in deliberating the 3.48 trillion baht budget bill, he said, adding that his party has also put together an important agenda to follow up other issues.

 

Pita analysed the Prime Minister Sretttha Thavisin’s coalition government’s performance the first 100 days in office, pointing out that this is important because it indicates whether promises made to the people will be kept and its administrative roadmap.

Once they lose 250 senators early next year things get a lot more fragile for the current installed coalition..

Not really, as MF has only 151 seats/500.

It is possible the coalition will have fractured by then, as the Digital Wallet scheme scam is highly contentious, Thaksin may be PM, the economy has gone into a deep dive, and the constitution re-write has raised some unpalatable issues (for some) etc.

It's possible. However, under current seats distribution, There's no possible coalition without at least MF or PT in it, and MF is seen as too critical of what you know to attract allies. Practically, the only option is a coalition with PT. It may ally again with MF, but it is highly likely that Thaksin's pardon has strings attached.

After the recent debacle, it is also unlikely that parties linked to the former Junta in one way or another, would be eager to take the risk of triggering anticipated elections.

No way they are going to remove that gateway to power, it will be re-branded or re-imagined as something else.

The senators were installed by the junta which is not in Power anymore they are just a small part of the current PT government who had less votes than the move forward party.

Ok, but it's still necessary to get 251 votes and MF is not able to get them unless it joins with PT.

BTW I am not against MF at all.

Yeah that's a very interesting point, and one wonders what kind of crazy acts or shenanigans the highly toxic army government goons are going to pull, in order to maintain those senators, select new proxy senators, or somehow try to maintain that power base.
