BANGKOK (NNT) - Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet is set to visit Thailand for a joint Thai-Cambodian cabinet meeting in February, focusing on bilateral cooperation and cross-border trade. This visit was planned following discussions between Hun Manet and Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin at the ASEAN-Japan special summit in Japan.

The two leaders discussed the potential development of industrial estates and border trade businesses in Sa Kaeo, which borders Cambodia. Hun Manet’s visit to Bangkok is expected to further address economic collaboration, border trade, and freight transport.

Expressing Thailand’s readiness to become a regional hub for freight transport, Srettha highlighted that Cambodia’s industrial estate development would complement Thailand’s existing deep-sea ports and airports. The visit also aligns with the goal of both nations to elevate bilateral trade to US$15 billion by 2025.

The two leaders, who took office on the same day, August 22, have agreed to enhance their strategic partnership and promote investment cooperation, focusing on developing cross-border areas. The forthcoming meeting is expected to solidify these objectives and foster stronger economic ties between Thailand and Cambodia.
