Thailand May Ease Law On Property Ownership And Visa Regulation

Featured Replies

I read in the bangkokpost today the news that I've never expecting to read in a lifetime.

...so they were thinking. I hope it's not too late.

Why optimistic just due to the opinion of a property consultant working with a company that for their own benefit want to see changes. Regret to say I very much doubt any changes will come due to this.

You mean:

Thailand, facing growing regional competition in the retirees as second home purchasers market, will need to be "involved in improving a better package of property ownership, domestic financing for foreigners and visa regulations," warned Pitchon.
?

(Pitchon being a property consultant :D )

All this article tells us is that Thailand is still top of the retirement league, despite the visa and property restrictions. I doubt they'll lose too much sleep over Mr Pitchon's warnings :o

Dream on.....

Its just another monthly cbre property sales pitch in the same @#$# newspaper

not to mention the appreciation of baht as "competition" to other asian countries...

I'm in direct competition with CBRE (used to work for them in fact) and can tell you that I have first hand feedback from the President of the Thai Condominium Association and from the real estate focus group that advises the government. Both have unequivocally told me that the proposed changes in the condo ownership laws will never happen and dont expect Farang ghettos a la SG's Sentosa Cove here any time soon either.

Unfortunately we see FEEL GOOD stories quite often. Nothing ever changes except for the worse. :o

another sales pitch bye a estate agent rep
