Thai Government Delays Proposed Recreational Cannabis Ban to Seek More Input

The proposed legislation that would ban recreational cannabis use in Thailand has been delayed by the government to gather further public feedback, according to Public Health Minister Cholnan Srikaew.

Following Tuesday’s cabinet meeting, Minister Cholnan announced that the Ministry of Public Health requires more time to collect perspectives on the proposed bill. This delay prevents its immediate submission to the cabinet for consideration.

The Public Health Minister had reportedly rushed the bill to attempt to get it to pass after complaints online about people smoking at a Coldplay concert last week.

Have they all gone home to try it....................

Is recreational use not already against the law....medical use only.

How strange? This couldn't mean they are actually re-considering the ban? And actually listening to people.....nah, the Gazette is full up with digital wallets and land-bridges for the foreseeable future.

I got a hint from a big grower and retailer that something like this was going to happen. They cannot ban recreational use. They can only legislate and make it more restrictive, not outright ban it to push them underground.

I would think the Thai government has more important things to worry about like the massive personal debt and the Baht in free-fall.....

Is this  really how things work these days,  A government rushing the passing of legislation purely to appease a few "netizens"   Or more accurately , a whinging, " non binary", minor media "personality"

Not that. Anything but that. Smoking dope at a rock concert. Oh, the humanity!

It's not the West and it's not the 70s. People live in smoke free environments and many people want nothing to do with smoke. 3-4:joints of marginal weed gonna bother some.

Most Asians want nothing to do with weed. Which is why Thailand shooting itself in the foot. Let the farang tourists smoke the $tuff $$$$$
