April 10, 20242 yr So we have lost the brown key for the Vespa Piaggio, only have the blue key now so no spare. Local Vespa dealer says can't clone Blue key need Brown key, only option is replace all the anti theft electrics on the bike at a cost of about 10K Baht There must be a way of making an extra spare key from only the Blue key. A quick look on the Intrnet does seem to suggest that it's possible but can't find any in the Saraburi area. Any information on local key cloners most welcome Thanks
April 10, 20242 yr A good locksmith / key cutter will have a blank that will fit that Vespa with the chip in the head portion that can scanned to match your existing model.

That sounds promising. There's a key stall in our local Tesco so will give that a try. Thank you
April 13, 20242 yr Modernvespa.com Quote You must have the brown / red key that came with your scooter when you purchased it. If you don't have this key, you will not be able to make a new key work on your scooter, and your only recourse will be to replace the entire ECU unit of your scooter at significant expense. The brown / red cannot be replaced. The plastic card with a key code on it that may be in your instruction manual is worthless. I think you will have to send the key to the US. Quote The right answer is to clone your blue key. No, your local dealer is unlikely to be able to do that for you. A few large dealers such as AF1 and Scooterwest have that capability. https://www.af1racing.com/AF1-KeyCloning-EXT-AF1-Racing-Key-Cloning-For-External-Cut-Keys Edited April 13, 20242 yr by VocalNeal email address edited per forum rules
April 13, 20242 yr Author Interesting, but not really practical. Not very cheap and we only have the one key now so sending it away would leave us without motorbike for long time. Will try some local locksmiths, there must be some shady guys around that have the gizmos for stealing these bikes. Anyway thanks for the info, will keep trying.
April 19, 20242 yr Author Update:- Got a working copy of the blue key from the key stall in my local Tesco. Took a couple of hours and cost 2500Baht. Not cheap but now have a spare key. Advice, Do not ever take your brown key out of the house.
April 19, 20242 yr Soi Kophai, Pattaya, there's a small Vespa shop (local boys), always lots of Vespas out front, repairs etc. Have a talk with them, these guys generally know more about the bikes than the dealers, they know how to get around challenges. Edited April 19, 20242 yr by SAFETY FIRST
