Convenience Store Employee Praised for Preventing Electric Pole Fire from Spreading

A convenience store employee has been praised for his quick actions in extinguishing a fire on an electric pole, preventing it from spreading to nearby areas. The man, who had previously been recognised for burying the body of a monkey killed in a road accident to prevent further incidents.

 

On the morning of September 8, a fire broke out along Sukhumvit Road, on the inbound route to Pattaya near the entrance of Thung Prong Village in Sattahip District, Chonburi Province. The fire was caused by a short circuit, which ignited a tangled mess of communication cables attached to an electric pole.

 

 

No one dared to approach the flames due to the potential danger. However, a man dressed in the uniform of a convenience store employee, later identified as Mr. Jetsada Malirat, 33, the assistant manager of a nearby 7-Eleven branch, stepped forward with a fire extinguisher. Displaying no fear of the dangers involved, he positioned himself under the electric pole and used the extinguisher to contain the fire, preventing it from spreading further.

 

Shortly afterward, firefighters from the Udomsak Subdistrict Municipality arrived and doused the remaining flames. The local electric authority then secured the area and coordinated repairs with the cable companies involved to ensure no further incidents.

 

Mr. Jetsada explained that he was on his way back to the store after making a delivery when he saw the fire. Noticing that it was close to several homes, he immediately borrowed a fire extinguisher from nearby residents and worked to contain the blaze until the fire service arrived.

Try reading the OP, it was communication cables attached to a electrical pole. Then it may help you making embarrassing comments.

At least he had the sense not to use a water extinguisher. Unlike the fire department.

The one he used did not look like a water one, but the Fire Department use water.

Take a look at vid it could easily catch the power cable plastic cover on fire.

Read the post it was a communication cable, standard practice, if you are trained and know what you doing.

 

The plastic box is the communication cables junction, the power cable are well above that.

There are no electrical cables involved in that fire, plus that  fire truck, in the picture,  is fitted with a Rosenbauer UHPS (ultra high pressure system) that uses atomised water at a pressure of 100 bar, with a flow rate of 38 L/min. 

 

Highly controllable water spray, designed to be safely used in that situation, when there is a safe distance between electrical cables and communication cables. The nozzle is also rubber coated for added safety, plus you notice full fire kit, with insulated firefighting boots.

Why? It was the communications cables on fire as can be clearly seen and I have spoken to the fire station members.

You should review that comment, you will likely find it was not me. Comms cables don't usually have much power in them. Often the power cables at the top start things off, and burning insulation drips down onto the comms cables below, which are a big tangled mess. Recall seeing that on a similar fire on Soi 15, Buakhao.

So this was not you?

 

It was the communications cable, the electrician cables were not involved and were not damaged.

You seem to retain the title of resident toy fireman  and argumentative new kid on the block, despite talking nonsense!  Comms cables are unlikely to be the source of the fire, far more likely the power cables which are at the uppermost level. The OP actually states that!

So where are the electrical insulators on the wires n this close up of the fire. They are communication cables!

The 230vAC cables are insulted, sheathed cables here.  Not sure what is going on there it all looks like they are mixed together. I am not saying the comms cables cannot burn, simply they were unlikely to start the fire.
