Keyboard Typing Problem.. Cursor & text jumping back when typing?

I have a problem which has arisen 2 days ago on dell inspiron 6000 after a dial in from their highly skilled technical support in India, to fix a seperate problem which took over 2 hours of round and round and round with tech supoprt agt "Sir can I ask you to clarify your technical support issue?" (for the 9th time in a row) and before I had 4 words out of my mouth, he would butt in and cut across me ( cabbages.!!! should write to Mickey Dell about this!!!) ... which has left me with a new irritating problem! :o

Now, when I go to type text say in email in outlook ( and in Ms Word).. midst tying the Cursor or some to text... suddenly jumps back up 1 or 2 paras or lines..usually into middle of another word, do I have to Undo and re typr or it deletes a sentance or 2 and jumps back.... very very irritating problem!!!

Can anyone tell me how or what specific steps I can do to fix this??? before I start to eat valiumn!!!!!!

I see to remember this happening before, and was easy to fix.

already I tired the Windows Help Trouble shooter....which I find to me not worth the effort and a knowledge base search too, which pulls up everything except problem you want to fix!!!

Any ideas... please??

Check that you are not brushing the track pad or that it is not dirty. The pad can often be turned off {if you always use a separate mouse} from within the configuration program.

Sounds like you are touching the trackpad with your big hands.

As A_Traveller said, turn off the Trackpad.

About the Inspirion 6000 - the user's manual is here:

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/syst...d_documentation

Disable the touchpad - as Dell calls it - in the mouse options - i took a picture of the relevant section in the manual, see below:

Alternatively, you could try to turn off touch-clicking. There are also trackpad drivers that have options to disable the trackpad when typing.

I had this same problem recently. I thought it was a virus. then, I noticed that one of the keys on my keyboard was stuck. when I released it, the problem disappeared.

maybe all you need is a new keyboard or mouse.

if the letters on your keyboard have faded, then, my guess is - it's the keyboard.
