What Do Sexpats Think Of Andrew Tate?
Not a sexpat but I have an opinion. Regardless of his personal no doubt horrible behavior, I consider him a major modern global villain due to his popularity among millions of young men, poisoning their minds. -

Chiang Rai flood recovery 96% complete, set to finish by Monday
'No-one left behond' I see that the streets and drainways will not be cleared by Monday, as scheduled. I see homes and businesses still choked with mud and floodwater. I see some homes being offered up to three fluro light fittings for self installation. No rewiring. I am being told that relief funds have been selectively distributed, despite the fact that flood water and mud levels did not discriminate between adjacent homes, businesses and streets. I see residents, still in shock, being told by head villager and government officials that no further applications for ฿74m relief funding is available. -

If Trump is re-elected what does it say about the I.Q of the average American?
So you think a relative few high population urban areas should have control over the entire county. Fair enough. -

Trump ahead in all battleground states - ALL OF THEM!
First, it was Bill Clinton lamenting the murders by Harris/Biden newcomers. Now it's Lizzo giving Trump a boost, at a Kamala rally: Pop singer Lizzo spoke at a campaign rally for Vice President Kamala Harris in Detroit, Michigan, Saturday, telling the audience that “if Kamala wins then the whole country will be like Detroit.” It just keeps getting better and better. https://dailycaller.com/2024/10/19/lizzo-tells-swing-state-voters-support-kamala-whole-country-will-be-like-detroit/ -

Expatriate Group health insurance?
I don't know much about the regulatory or financial oversight capabilities of the authorities in Mauritius. I think Guardrisk is owned by a South African entity, so I suppose that there must be tax and regulatory benefits to incorporating in Mauritius instead of South Africa. Generally, I tend to be a bit skeptical of companies operating from tax havens or places where oversight tends to be weak. I believe HCI is a German company and is an intermediary and not an insurance company. HCI's website indicates that they offer expat health insurance through their UK branch which is managing general agent for MGEN, a French insurer. MGEN is rated "a" by AM Best, so they are good from a financial standpoint. HCI's UK branch would be regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, and MGEN presumably under France's ACPR, so the regulatory framework should be favorable. I wouldn't worry much about financial or regulatory issues in dealing with HCI or MGEN, but ask your broker about this just to confirm. -

Foreigner married to Thai - laws regarding home ownership
It is correct that post-nuptial contracts are not valid, but I question that a mortgage loan from pre-marital assets qualifies as post-nuptial contract. Otherwise, no business contract (excluding marital assets) may be valid between spouses. My question is also if a foreigner can grant a loan secured by property owned by a Thai. -

Latest developments and discussion of recent events in the Ukraine War
It should be a "weapons free" from the US, but with an election in a little more than 2 weeks I don't think there will be any action other than a statement saying that this is bad -
