A 67-year-old woman lost her life after losing control of her motorcycle on a bridge descent and crashing into a guardrail.

At approximately 13:15 on 14 March, officers from Pho Klang Police Station received a report of a motorcycle crash near the underpass of the Pak Thong Chai three-way intersection in Nakhon Ratchasima municipality. Police and emergency responders from Hook 31 Rescue Unit were dispatched to the scene.

The crash occurred on the descent of the Nakhon Ratchasima elevated interchange, leading towards Highway 2 (Mittraphap Road). Upon arrival, authorities discovered a white and red Honda Wave motorcycle, bearing registration number from Nakhon Ratchasima, lying on its side near the roadside.

A short distance from the vehicle, the body of the victim, later identified as Mrs. Yupa Phengsomnuek, 67, was found unconscious and unresponsive. Emergency responders attempted to resuscitate her using CPR, but despite their efforts, no vital signs were detected. Family members, who rushed to the scene upon hearing the news, were left in tears as their loved one could not be revived.

According to the initial investigation, Mrs. Yupa had been returning home after making merit at Wat Liap temple. She had taken the detour along Highway 204 before merging onto Highway 2. Her home was approximately four kilometres away when the crash occurred. Witnesses reported that as she descended the elevated section of the road, she lost control of her motorcycle, causing it to veer off course and crash into the roadside guardrail. The impact resulted in fatal injuries.

Police are continuing their investigation to determine the precise cause of the incident. Meanwhile, the victim’s body has been taken for further examination before being released to her family for funeral arrangements.
