A 52-year-old lorry driver was found hung, in a highway restroom in Mae Sot, Tak province, after sending a distressing farewell message to his son the night before.

 

On 3 April, police from Mae Sot Police Station were alerted after locals and shop owners discovered a man hanged inside a public restroom near the Highway Police Office, close to the King Taksin the Great Roundabout on the Asian Highway inbound to Mae Sot.

 

Emergency responders rushed to the scene, where they found the man in a locked cubicle of the men’s restroom, which had been forcibly opened in an attempt to help him. Officers estimated that he had been deceased for several hours before his body was discovered.

 

Ms Tipawan, a cleaner at the restroom, recounted the unsettling discovery.

 

“I had cleaned three cubicles, but this one remained locked from the inside. I asked the café owner next door to check, and we knocked repeatedly but got no response. Eventually, the highway police arrived with a crowbar and forced the door open. When we saw what was inside, I almost fainted,” she said.

 

The deceased was identified as Mr Jirasak, 52, a lorry driver from Mae Sot. His blue Hino lorry was found parked on the opposite side of the road.

 

His son, who arrived at the scene, told police that he had been unable to reach his father since the previous night. At around 20:00, Mr Jirasak had sent him a message via LINE, stating, “I can’t do this anymore. I’m stressed. I drive my own truck, I don’t work for anyone. This is goodbye.” His son had desperately tried to call and message him, urging him to reveal his location, but received no further response.

 

Police have confirmed there were no initial signs of foul play. The body was transported to Mae Sot Hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death before being released to the family for funeral arrangements.
