A 20-year-old vocational graduate from Lopburi province is missing after leaping into the Chao Phraya River from Ang Thong Bridge, following a friend’s ordination celebration. The man, identified only as “San,” reportedly parked his motorbike on the bridge, placed his keys on the railing, and jumped into the river in full view of stunned onlookers.

Police Lieutenant Yongyut Payungyat, deputy suppression officer at Ang Thong City Police Station, received the emergency call and quickly coordinated with local rescue teams and divers from the Ang Thong Rescue Foundation to begin a search operation.

At the scene, officers discovered a grey Honda Wave motorcycle with Ang Thong registration parked in the middle of the bridge. A set of keys was found placed carefully on the railing, adding to the mystery surrounding the incident. Witnesses stated that the man rode onto the bridge, turned off the engine, placed his keys on the handrail, and jumped without hesitation into the river below.

Despite the efforts of divers, who have searched for over three hours under difficult nighttime conditions, no trace of the young man has yet been found.

Mr. Sun, a close friend of the missing man, told reporters that San had recently celebrated a friend’s ordination and had been drinking before the incident. “He was just coming back from the party. I don’t know what happened. He was drunk and just jumped,” Sun said. He also revealed that San had previously suffered a brain injury due to an accident, which may have had lingering effects.

At present, authorities have not determined the exact cause of the incident. Police continue to investigate while the search for San’s body remains ongoing.
