Trump Slams Baltimore 'Crime Mess', Threatens Bridge Funding Cut

US President Donald Trump has fired back at Maryland Governor Wes Moore, emphasising Baltimore’s crime chaos and threatening federal funding for the collapsed Francis Scott Key Bridge.

Moore invited Trump for a public safety walk in Baltimore after Trump's National Guard deployment in Washington, D.C. Trump insisted Baltimore is too "far gone" in terms of crime.

On "Face the Nation," Moore criticised Trump's crime rhetoric as merely "performative," highlighting that, while Trump makes these claims, local efforts reduce crime effectively. The White House backed Trump, citing Baltimore as a leading city in crime rates, only trailing Memphis, Oakland, and St. Louis.

Trump, on his social media platform Truth Social, remained firm, urging Moore to act: "Stop talking and get to work, Wes," while alleging Moore’s crime record is weak.

Moore defended his administration, noting a 20% statewide homicide decrease and significant drops in Baltimore's gun violence and homicides since 2025, reported CBS News.

Trump's recent deployment of the National Guard to Washington, D.C., raised eyebrows, as the data shows crime had already been decreasing. He hinted at repeating this in Baltimore, sparking resistance from local leaders. Moore argued against using the National Guard for urban policing, urging for tailored crime-fighting tools.

Baltimore’s mayor, Brandon Scott, backed Moore, expressing a need for federal law enforcement resources instead of military intervention. He celebrated the city’s Gun Violence Reduction Strategy for improving safety and claimed that Baltimore is currently "as safe as it's been in my lifetime."

In a related development, Trump is reconsidering the $100 billion in federal funding allocated for rebuilding Baltimore’s Key Bridge, which collapsed in March 2024. He hinted at re-evaluating the decision on Truth Social, following the bridge’s destruction after being hit by a cargo ship.

Forgetting politics.Which other President has been involved in so many court cases, fights with others, disagreements, financial schemes, staff sackings, rulings overturned and poor diplomatic relations with other countries.

Why?   It has to be related to either a personality disorder or a psychological problem.

Maybe future presidents need to have a complete mental and physical examination by a team of non partisan medical professionals before being sworn in to protect the country and the people.

This is disgusting and low by his toilet bowl standard. He has zero regards for the welfare of the citizens of Baltimore. This bridge is vital highway between East and West route and access to the Baltimore Port; key importance in the economy. He is disregarding the well being for crazy political brinkmanship. His accelerating cognitive decline is making him make erratic decisions.

Good.

Pressure them where it hurts.

Trump's labeling of Baltimore as a "crime mess" is not only inaccurate but also reflects a harmful white supremacist attitude. The truth is, Baltimore is an excellent travel destination for families. The claims about crime in the notable Inner Harbor area are greatly exaggerated. If you ignore the minor disturbances, such as the wheelie boys and unpleasant odors, you'll find that you can enjoy a safe and vibrant experience in the city.

Baltimore's ranking varies by source, with Security.org ranking it third in the U.S. for violent crime in 2024, while US News & World Report listed it as the fourth most dangerous city in July 2025 based on FBI data, and SafeHome.org reported Baltimore had the highest per-capita murder and robbery rates among large cities with 500,000+ people in 2024

There is an irony. Those who voted for him did so because he promised to overthrow the status quo. He certainly has done that with increasing detrimental effect, Reminds me of the saying, "be careful what you wish for".

He looks a bit disheveled in that photo.

All he needs is a shopping cart to push around.

Wow! He's clearly mentally deteriorating at an accelerated pace.

WH staff are keeping him busy signing Executive Orders.

Florc off!

Baltimore, D.C, New York, Chicago, L.A. What do these cities have in common? Hmm, would it be that they all have black mayors? Coincidence? Me thinks not.

And it’s funny how just less than 3 months ago Trump was begging everyone to please come to his silly military parade and claimed that crime was down 25% in DC and that is was ‘very safe’.

Next thing you know he'll be firing a top official in the Fed.😋

Will have fun watching the USD tanked and the MAGA folks in Thailand getting their Baht decimated if he do that. 😀

And what the f### does that have to do with cutting funding to the bridge?

Nothing at all.

Another example of how Trump acts much like a mafia boss than a president. He's also all about punishing blue states. DISGUSTING!
