The ELITE Book shop just down from Villa Market between Sukumvit Sois 33 & 35 often has travel books, sometimes a bit pricey tho.  Haven't noticed maps.  Lots of maps of Thailand, Bangkok, etc, on the www.

Chatujac (spelling?) market, there's heaps of them in the second hand book stores.

Khao San road is a good place for 2nd hand travel books. All the backpackers sell em when they run out of money
