Pattaya police have swiftly arrested a 37-year-old Thai motorcycle taxi driver after he allegedly punched a 52-year-old Indian tourist, causing him to fall and suffer a serious head injury. The altercation occurred early on October 13 near the entrance to Runway Market on Pattaya Second Road, after the tourist reportedly attempted to urinate by the roadside. The suspect was identified and detained within hours following a rapid investigation.

Police said the incident began when the driver, identified as Mr. Kritsada, also known as “Ball,” saw the Indian man attempting to relieve himself close to where he was waiting for customers. When he intervened to stop the tourist, an argument broke out. The Indian man allegedly shouted back and spat in his face, prompting the driver to lose his temper and strike him once, causing the victim to collapse and hit his head on the ground.

The attack left the tourist unconscious and injured. His companions immediately came to his aid and contacted authorities. Investigators from Pattaya City Police, led by Pol. Lt. Col. Arut Saphanon, Deputy Superintendent of Investigation, reviewed CCTV footage from the area and tracked down the suspect within a short period. Mr. Kritsada confessed to the assault during questioning, claiming it was a momentary loss of control.

Police have charged the suspect and sent him, along with supporting evidence, to investigating officers for further legal proceedings. Authorities emphasised that such incidents will be handled seriously to maintain public safety.

Friends of the injured tourist praised the swift response by Pattaya police, noting that the quick arrest demonstrated efficiency and commitment to protecting visitors. Officials stated that maintaining law and order is a priority for Pattaya, particularly as it continues to welcome large numbers of foreign tourists.

I can urinate in public but foreigners not allowed - it is protected for Thai only

"...Pattaya police have swiftly arrested a 37-year-old Thai motorcycle taxi driver..."

They seem to relish looking for someone to smack down, but I wonder where their fellow drivers are? Waiting to put a boot in when the foreigner is on the ground?

I wonder if we'll ever know what the consequences are?

A good talking to and a $14 fine?  Maybe a wai to the Indian guy?

Sounds like there was only three hits in it.

Ball hitting the Indian

The Indian hitting the ground.

And the ambulance hitting 100.

Why do these brutes always seem to have nicknames?

It's the same in India they just have a slash anywhere,

Have you ever met a Thai guy without a nickname?

My favorite was a coworker nicknamed "Boy".  I just couldn't say it.  Back home, I'd get fired if I ever referred to a co-worker as "Boy".  Especially a coworker of a different ethnic persuasion.

Whilst ignoring the roads and allowing thousands of deaths/injuries to take place annually.
