Prison Mix-Up: Manhunt for Two Wrongly Freed Wandsworth Inmates

British police are urgently seeking two prisoners mistakenly released, including sex offender Brahim Kaddour Cherif. This incident intensifies scrutiny on Prime Minister Keir Starmer's Labour government amid rising support for the Reform UK party. The Metropolitan Police disclosed that Cherif, aged 24, has been at large since 29 October.

Wandsworth prison in southwest London mistakenly released Cherif, a registered sex offender, convicted last November of indecent exposure. Justice Secretary David Lammy expressed outrage at this mishap, which transpired shortly after the implementation of heightened security measures. The implementation of these measures coincided with the escape of Hadush Kebatu, an Ethiopian who ultimately faced deportation.

In Surrey, another detainee convicted of multiple fraud offences was also wrongly released. The UK government, grappling with backlash on immigration, confirmed Cherif entered legally in 2019 but overstayed. Cherif's current status is not as an asylum seeker. The government intends to deport foreign criminals frequently.

Prime Minister Starmer, who took office in July 2024, faces criticism regarding his immigration handling as polls indicate rising popularity for Nigel Farage's Reform UK. Starmer's administration attributes some blame to the previous Conservative government's handling of prison overcrowding. Statistics reveal a significant increase in erroneous prison releases, with 262 incidents from March 2024 to March 2025 alone.

Key Takeaways:

  • UK police hunt two prisoners mistakenly released, including a sex offender.
  • The errors spotlight issues with UK's prison system under PM Starmer.
  • Recent security measures highlight ongoing government immigration challenges.

Can't help but wonder whether these are in fact relatively common occurrences which the recent fiasco with the Ethiopian chap have brought to the attention of the media.

The lunatics are still running the asylum.

Yes. Been like that since 2010!

It's really sad to see what has become of the UK. It's farcical at virtually every level.

Calamity Lammy's performance in Parliament was equally disgraceful, refusing to answer the question about these mistakes 5 times.

No - it's been all over the media for days.

Probably not in your echo chamber though.

One has handed himself in.

Mistaken identity ?  Or bribery of prison warders ?

But it has gotten drastically worse since July 2024

Just about sums up 'old I've eaten all the pies lardy Lammey' though. Thick as two short planks

Because Starmer personally releases all prisoners. The connection is a far reach.
