Marjorie Taylor Greene Quits Congress After Trump Clash

Georgia congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has announced her resignation, effective 5 January 2026, following a public dispute with US President Donald Trump. Greene, known for her fervent support of Trump, shared the news in a video, expressing her intent to pursue new opportunities. Disagreements over the release of Jeffrey Epstein-related files sparked the fallout that led to this decision.

Greene had been a central figure in Trump’s "America First" agenda, but her recent backing of a bipartisan petition for the release of Epstein files led to tension with Trump. The President initially opposed the release but later changed his stance when it appeared Greene and other Republicans would join Democrats to pass the measure. Greene's resignation announcement included criticism of Trump, who threatened to support a candidate to challenge her in the primaries.

Reports suggest Greene may seek state office, eyeing positions such as Georgia governor or a Senate seat. Trump openly dismissed these ambitions due to poor polling numbers, further highlighting the breakdown in their alliance. Despite their former alignment, Greene's persistent demands for the Epstein file release created a rift, compounded by her critiques of Trump’s foreign policy and tariff strategies, reported the BBC.

Greene's departure marks a tumultuous end to a relationship that previously united the Maga movement. Her outspoken media appearances and critiques of Trump strained their ties. Meanwhile, Trump labelled Greene as a "traitor" but ultimately signed the legislation for the Epstein files into law after it passed Congress.

Key Takeaways:

  • Marjorie Taylor Greene resigns after public feud with Trump.
  • Disagreements centred on Epstein file release contributed to the fallout.
  • Greene may pursue state office ambitions amid ongoing political shifts.

She is a nutter and like another female conservative commentator, she has been off the rails for a while.  Unlike the BS in this story it was not all about the Epstein files - she was going to be thrown out of the Party - so she has got in early.

  • Popular Post

Very sad.

Not fair to the people that elected her.

She should at least serve out her term.

Maga base quitting because of Trump's bad decisions/policies.

That's an unfortunate decision.  She is more effective remaining in office that by resigning.  Her constituents voted her into office.  She should respect the will of the people and at least serve out her term. Trump shouldn't be a cause of her decision to end her term.  Essentially - he wins.

She is quite intelligently positioning herself to appeal to a different group of gullible morons than her current group of gullible morons in order to run for a different office.

I find it questionable that's she's quit just because of her spat with Trump as the headline claims.

Her district is a GOP lock. Whomever replaces her will serve the district well. By repositioning herself she has greatly increased her future opportunities to represent a statewide or national constituency.

Oh I’m sure she will take a few scrotums with her lol 😂 perhaps I should rephrase that as male scalps……trump squashed her desire to run for the senate…..hell hath no fury like a woman scorned …..only one left now the little bobert woman ..Nancy mace quit allready they have begun to eat their own starting with the women.

I don't know much about US politics, but does this mean that her seat is up for re-election, and a democrat may take it?

Doubt it it’s heavily republican but trump has angered a lot of real republicans so perhaps but doubtful in my opinion.

She opposed the shutdown and wanted to negotiate.

She wanted more affordable health care and reduced health insurance fees.

She wanted to end H1Bs, offshoring, and other foreign worker programs.

She wanted the census to only count citizens

She wanted English as the official language

She wanted to make it unlawful to sexually transition a minor.

She thinks the Speaker of the House is committed to doing absolutely nothing.

None of those things seem wacky to me. They sound right.

Thomas Massie is in the same boat as MTG , but he doesn't give up.

Maybe the wrong time of the month.

She will probably change her mind on Monday.

Nice hair though.

Naa trump squashed her ambitions to be a senator and called her a traitor for demanding the Epstein files be released she’s angry and rightly so,she made excuses for trump and was betrayed….there will be scrotums hanging from her garter belt before this is through.

Actually she said she was afraid as her life had been threatened.

I'm certainly not a fan of MTG, but I don’t think she’s done this just because she ran afoul of Trump. I think there’s more to her resignation than we know now. It could be bad news for her, like she or someone in her immediate family is sick, or it could be good news in that she’s planning to run for a more prestigious office, although she said today she’s not interested in becoming president.

....Was 'Given An Offer She Couldn't Refuse'...(?) (Forced Out For Fear Of Her Life)...(?)

Good riddance.   Grifting, lying clone of Trump.

The predictable vomited bile.

I've always admired her since she berated a child survivor of a school mass shooting....calling him a coward.....for demanding tighter gun controls.....my kind of woman.
