Thai authorities have arrested six suspects involved in an investment scam that defrauded victims of more than 13 million baht. The group allegedly promised high returns of up to 20 times the initial investment, claiming links to former US President Donald Trump. Fifteen victims have been identified in the case.

The suspects reportedly posed as owners of an international oil fund and used forged documents featuring Donald Trump’s signature to lend credibility to their scheme. The operation was uncovered by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) under the Economic Crime Suppression Division (ECD), which specialises in financial fraud and economic crimes.

Authorities warned that the scam involved sophisticated techniques to convince investors, including falsified contracts and official-looking documents. “We continue to monitor and investigate similar schemes to protect the public,” a CIB spokesperson said. Experts note that such scams exploit the reputation of high-profile figures to create trust and lure victims.

Following the arrests, law enforcement officials are expected to recover some of the stolen funds and continue investigations to identify any additional victims or accomplices. The CIB stressed its commitment to professional, impartial work in supporting victims and maintaining public confidence.

That, even if the claim was genuine, would be a give away that is was a scam

When I see that police cap, I wonder whether they are height-adjustable, as this one is set very high, or whether this is the chief.

Six fraudsters, eh? Don, Melania, Don Jr, Eric, Ivanka, Jared?
