Khanom khrok and mango sticky rice, traditional Thai desserts, have been recognized internationally by TasteAtlas, featuring in the Top 100 Best Desserts in the World for 2025. Khanom khrok secured the 24th spot, while mango sticky rice placed 64th. This distinction highlights Thailand's rise in the global culinary scene, particularly in dessert offerings.

These rankings were part of TasteAtlas’s annual list, created from over 97,000 user ratings that celebrate the world’s favorite sweet treats. The list’s top spot went to Antakya Künefesi from Turkey, noted for its cheese-filled pastry. British clotted cream ice cream and Italy's pistachio gelato also ranked highly, showcasing a diverse range of international tastes in dessert preferences.

Khanom khrok is praised for its balanced flavors, combining rice flour and coconut milk to create a two-layered treat. This popular Thai street food is known for its crisp base and soft custard topping, often enhanced with flavors like spring onions or pumpkin. Meanwhile, mango sticky rice, a popular dessert in Thai meals, combines sweetened coconut milk-soaked rice with ripe mango, capturing the sweetness and freshness typical of Thai desserts.

Food experts believe the inclusion of Thai desserts in the list underscores a growing global interest in Southeast Asian cuisine. The use of coconut milk, tropical fruits, and rice in these desserts highlights the unique and appealing flavors that set Thai cuisine apart. This international recognition may lead to increased attention on Thai street food as a significant culinary experience.

Looking forward, the global appreciation for these desserts may inspire further exploration and innovation within Thai cuisine. As interest grows, Thailand's culinary offerings might become even more prominent on the world stage, potentially influencing dining trends and expanding the availability of Thai desserts worldwide, reported Khaosod.

...and rightly so.

Both delicious and very popular among Thais and visitors to Thailand.

Mango sticky rice is the only asian dessert that is in my top 10.

I do like a good Khanom khrok but many skimp on the coconut milk. Quality is so much dependent on a generous portion of coconut milk. Anything less leads to a bland product. Same applies for mango and sticky rice.

I prefer the dessert on the right with them yellow, soft, juicy, sweet, sliced thingy's and I like them little crunchy bits on the rice too!

My wife would know that. I just enjoy the crunchyness of them when I eat that dessert.
