Bangkok Bank Changing of Transfer Limits On Their Mobile App

Featured Replies

Has anyone else gotten notice on their Bangkok Bank mobile app that the bank has reviewed your account and for your safety have changed your banking transfer limits? Friday I was attempting to pay a bill to a Thai firm when I encountered the problem of limit being dropped to a total of 10,000 Baht per day (the lowest amount). Went to bank to see why the limit changed and was not successful in doing transfer even after they updated my account records. I was told to come back again today to work on changing limits. The high pollution levels here in Chiang Mai are keeping me at home. Will go to the bank when the air pollution levels drop. I am aware of two other foreigners who have encountered the same problem with the Bangkok Bank app limits being lowered to the minimum. I was able to use my I-banking to pay the bill once returned home and accessed my laptop and my I-banking logon information.

I naively tried to transfer just below 50 thousand a couple of months ago. I thought since they'd told me I needed face recognition for transfers bigger than 50 thousand, any transfer below that would be easy. It was rejected though. I switched to paying with my foreign credit card.

Dunno. Some time ago I got notice that my daily limit was now 2 million Baht! The previous notice I got was warning me that my balance was below ฿500.-!

My monthly pension is quite modest, and I never saw 2 million of ANY currency in my life. So... dunno.

Get this message since days.

Now daily 400k

Transfer 100k

Payment / topup 50k

I couldn't care less about this bank since last September.

They are in the competition for the most stupid rules etc.

Their facial recognition is a PITA.

Limit for facial requested is 50k.

Current frontrunner: Krungsri, no more internet banking after the age of 70.

This happened to me yesterday. Tried to pay my rent(rent is always over 10K) and for the past 3 years paying with the Bangkok Bank QR code has not been a problem. Yesterday my attempt to pay over 10K for rent with the QR code was rejected "daily transfer limit is exceeded". Tried to change the limit with the face scanning method for 3 hours but the got the same error message "face not recognized". As Tom Cruise said in Maverick "it's the only one I got". This is the same face that I have registered with Bangkok Bank twice in the last year. Had to call 1333 and got a useless bank employee who said "the bank has set the limits for your account". Well thanks for letting me know. I will have to go into a branch with my passport and debit card and scan my same old face again. Now I know why some despise Bangkok Bank. I am heading in the same direction after 9 years of smooth banking experience.

Where do Kasikorn and their ridiculous requirement for home country ID stand in your league table of stupid rules?

BKK bank changed my limits to 10k, failed miserably to adjust in the app.

Face recognition "smile with teeth showing" assumes that you've not ODd on Coke for all your life whistling

Barely use the account now anyway so no real issue.

I recently made a single transfer of 300K with bkk bank, no drama's.

I've been thru all the facial recognition stuff at my home branch and as mentioned can set daily transfer limit at 2m.

A possible issue for all users of BBL's app, though, is how often they'll need to go through all this palaver again (and again, and again, etc) as a result of the normal ageing process as in all probability compounded by the stresses of coping with this wretched app.

Myself, I'm hoping to be able to stick with BBL's relatively stress-free i-banking service with its ฿200,000 daily limit (more than adequate for my purposes) until I pop up the daisies.
