The Philippine government announced it will not ban Roblox but will push the platform for enhanced child safety measures, amid concerns over online child abuse and exploitation. Officials from the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) met with Roblox and other stakeholders to ensure better protection for young users in the Philippines.

The discussion held on April 7 prompted Roblox to commit to stricter monitoring and the introduction of age-appropriate content controls on its platform. Additionally, Roblox plans to initiate an information campaign starting April 12 aimed at educating parents on safety tools like parental controls, which include managing screen time, setting spending restrictions, and filtering content based on age suitability.

Previously, the CICC had issued a 30-day ultimatum to Roblox last month to address concerns over the misuse of the platform by pedophiles and drug traffickers targeting minors. The ultimatum came with a warning of a potential nationwide block if the platform failed to comply with safety improvement demands.
