April 11Apr 11 Has anyone tried to grow agarwood known as Mai Kritsana (ไม้กฤษณา), the girlfriend has 4 rai land available and I would like to experiment growing it in 1 or 2 rai.
April 11Apr 11 Plenty of information on Internet, I doubt that there are many Farang that have invested in this culture, as matturity takes 10 - 15 years and apparently requires some experience (inoculation, etc.). Anybody near you also cultivating? Go visit!
April 12Apr 12 Author I already did some research, inoculation (infecting the tree with a fungus in order to start producing sap) can take place in the 5 to 6th year and resin production can start from 7-8th year and onwards. No plantation close to me unfortunately (based in Kanchanaburi) but I read that there are some plantation in Chiang Rai, Trat and Rayong so maybe they will be an option to visit. My question was mainly to see if anyone dealt with the bureaucracy required (apparently a permission from Ministry of Agriculture is required) .
