People simply said were there were concerns about where his actions and words were headed e.g. not accepting losing an election, steps to limit press freedoms, use of federal armed staff in a range of cities, the insurrection that even disgusted republicans till they fell into line, efforts to control those who controlled the election processes, pushes to further gerrymander etc. Put these and other points together such as he himself - trolling you'll say - talking of a third term - and concerns seemed reasonable.
