White House scrambles as US gas prices surge towards $5 crisis

Donald Trump’s White House is reportedly racing to contain political fallout from soaring fuel prices as fears grow that petrol costs could smash through the critical $5-a-gallon threshold across much of the United States.

Administration insiders say officials are increasingly alarmed that the economic backlash from the expanding war with Iran is turning into a major electoral threat just months before crucial midterm elections.

A Political Weak Spot Reopens

For years, Republicans hammered former president Joe Biden over inflation and fuel costs, branding high petrol prices his administration’s “Achilles’ heel”.

Now, according to officials familiar with internal discussions, the same vulnerability is haunting Trump’s team as nationwide averages climb above $4.50 a gallon and several states already breach the $5 mark.

White House Runs Out of Easy Options

Trump has reportedly backed suspending the federal gas tax in an emergency attempt to ease pressure on motorists.

The proposal would shave 18 cents off fuel prices, but insiders suggest the move reflects desperation as officials search for visible ways to show they are responding to mounting public anger.

Iran War Drives Economic Anxiety

The White House privately acknowledges the conflict in the Middle East is fuelling much of the pain.

Oil markets remain volatile as fears grow that disruption in the Strait of Hormuz could continue choking global supply chains. At the same time, inflation has accelerated again, deepening pressure on already strained household budgets.

Republicans Fear a Midterm Backlash

Inside Republican circles, concern is rising that fuel prices could eclipse broader economic messaging and dominate the election campaign.

Strategists reportedly fear voters may punish the party over day-to-day affordability long before they weigh larger geopolitical arguments about the war.

The Cost of Political Messaging

The crisis is especially awkward because Republicans spent years tying economic competence directly to petrol prices.

That strategy is now rebounding on the administration itself. One adviser reportedly admitted fuel costs have become the single biggest political danger facing the White House.

With prices still climbing and no quick end to the Iran conflict in sight, Trump’s allies are confronting a problem they once weaponised against their opponents — and may now struggle to escape.

White House in a panic that gas is about to pass $5: report

Sorry MAGA this was NOT biden doing !! even if you try to blame him !! its was YOU for voting in the moron trump !! its only going to go up !!!

Gas prices 5$ per gallon, is nothing.

Ask people in Hong Kong, $15,65 per gallon.

Ask people in Denmark and Norway, $10,++ per gallon.

Must have come as a real shock even to our "stable genius"! Start a war in the worlds major oil producing region and oil prices shoot up!

Who-ever would have thought that - obviously didn’t cover the concept of supply and demand and what happens when you disrupt it at the Wharton business course, not even for their top student!

Don’t panic, Trump isn’t concerned:

“I don’t think about Americans’ financial situation.”

Donald Trump.

For once he’s telling the truth.

But American oil barons are happy; they are the only people that are important in fossilized USA.
