Bank statement for SETV obtained in Laos.

Featured Replies

(Correct me if I am wrong, which I usually am) I believe that to get a SETV online (paying in Laos) I will need to show a bank statement. I'll be applying 2/3 of the way through the month, and my statements are generated at the start of the month. Will this cause any issues? I have read that screenshots are refused- true?
Anything else to watch out for in this process? I understand that in Laos, we have the convenient pleasure of traipsing to an obverworked office to pay cash. This still the case?

Yes pay in cash. You'll need to print the QR code they send you to make the payment. As for the statement you'll have to run with what you have, but I'd have a screenshot of the current month handy as a backup.

Thanks. I have just checked my account, and the one with the money in it issues 6 monthly statements, which will be 5 months and 3 weeks old when I apply. I have politely asked them WTF that is about, and am waiting a reply.
Does anybody know if a screenshot would be rejected. I did read this somewhere, but I also read that Elvis is working in a 7-11 in Nong Khai, so who knows.

Depending on who you bank with, you may be able to generate a statement with custom dates. You will definitely be able to create screen shots of the transactions. You can also add a pdf with a covering letter explaining you have attached the most recent statement (5 months and 3 weeks old) and also transactions since then.

I find if you try to explain concisely and clearly to make things plain to them, the consulates will try to help you.

That would be way too old. If your bank issues the statements monthly and the latest statements is a few weeks old for that reason, that's explainable, but you can't give them a statement whose closing balance is almost half a year in the past.

And yes, it has to be a statement, you cannot just give them a screenshot showing your current balance.

There's an easy solution though: Spend a few weeks in Laos until you'll get your next 6-month statement. That will be perfect when it's fresh.

Yesterday I was reading through the application requirements for the UK London Thai Embassy, and it seemed they were not asking for bank statements any longer. Don't know at the moment whether that's correct

In Laos they want to see “Bank activity” for the past three month with an ending balance of THB20k. They also want to see Hotel Booking and an onward flight. It is not necessary to show THE STATEMENT from the bank, it is OK that you print the activity for the past three month.
