New passport with permanent resident permit

Featured Replies

Good afternoon. Tried to search, but did not really get any good answers out of of it.

Therefore, Question i just received my new Passport, then is there anything that i need to move from old passport as a Permanent Resident Permit holder? Can or needs the stamp, when i received my permanent resident status, to be moved to my new passport? I dont have any re-entry permits in my passport, as not planning to travel outside Thailand this year.

Thank you

Ant.

Great, thank you very much Upnotover

I renewed my UK passport last year, having been a Permanent Resident since 2000.

I am not aware of anything in my UK Passport which signifies my Thai Permanent Residence as such. The Permanent Residence documentation is the White Book, with the Police Alien book in support. The only important thing in the old passport was the last arrival stamp. I think that could have been dealt with by leaving the country and producing my old passport on departure.

When I asked at IO last year about my new passport they said wait till needing to leave. When I went to get my re-entry permit in new passport there was a new IO boss, and they insisted on transferring the arrival stamp to the new passport, as well as insisting on photographs of me at our house, which I had never heard of before. Departure and return went smoothly so everything is now in my new passport and White Book.

just as as add on, after reading the thread from Upnotover i tried to convince my HR that nothing was needed to be done at the immigration as i am not planning to travel abroad this year, no need for endorsement. However, she insisted after calling with various immigration staff she knows, that we have to go. Then in the end, when we went to the immigration, they informed indeed that nothing is needed anymore to be stamped or moved at immigration as we are no longer in their system.

Am sure the bank will be confused, next time i go there as there are no stamps in my passport. They already made a drama last time, when my staff had to go for some business transfers, that can not take up any money as my passport was expiring within 6 months.

I think you just need to carry your old and new passport, plus the Blue PR book when you enter Thailand.
