It's actually the Met that requested this. It's to Crack down on phone theives.

If a phone is stolen, the owner csn access their phone from another device, with passwords known only to them, to deactivate the phone and nake it worthless.

It's actually to help in the fight against child sexual abuse, something that the right wingers seem to be against. It will prevent children from sending naked pictures, that's all. Adults will still be able to send all the naked imagery and dick pics that they want. The stats are quite something, but if you try to do anything the right will vilify you.........and I imagine none of them have done any research into what this actually is.

The announcement has been driven by an explosion in child sexual abuse referrals. The UK’s National Crime Agency receives 1,700 referrals every week. Last year nine in 10 child abuse images were generated by children, many of whom had been tricked or blackmailed by abusers they had met on the internet.

Online grooming cases have risen to 7,000 a year in the UK, with organised criminal gangs and social media sites profiting from the sale and exchange of images and footage of abuse.

But yeah, Starmer is Hitler, Stalin, Beelzebub all rolled in to one and will eat your children if you gave him access to your home.

So you think children should be free to send naked images of themselves to strangers they've met on the internet? Why?

Parents should probably be monitoring what their underage children are doing online.

But if Starmer's policies are preventing child abuse, then good.

Because parents can be lazy.

It's actually to help in the fight against child sexual abuse,

It's nothing to do with helping or saving 'the children'

it's all about a dictatorial drive towards a digital panopticon.

Those who continue to claim they have 'nothing to hide' had better wake up PDQ.

How anyone with an ounce of sense can fail to realise the ramifications of EVERYONE having to prove their age before being allowed to post anything on the internet is beyond me.

To put it simply for those who still don't get it...they want to force everyone to identify themself to use the internet...everything you say, watch, read and buy online will be fully tracked and traced directly back to you..the end of anonymity , any semblance of free speech the death knell for democracy, privacy and personal autonomy !

Just for a bit of balance. cheesy

This is what our leader is truly up to.

Enjoy.

well duhhh of course its the parents responsibility but for some unfathomable reason there seems to be quite a percentage who want the government to nanny everything for them because its so convenient, safe and effective for those dim whited fools who have no idea whats coming for them and their children.

Yeah, agree on both points. Unfortunately many parents are just <deleted> at their jobs and don't do anything. But for some reason people like johng and rocketboy don't think their children deserve protection.

People like me don't want the government imposing their

'protection' on EVERYONE ... the job of protecting children is the job of the parents...taking away the rights of everyone to

'protect the children' is nothing but a deception to bring in dictatorial measures by the back door.

Maybe the govt has decided the parents have not done a good enough job of protecting their children from online predators.

Maybe many parents are naive and dont realize there are online predators.

You think it will lead to further dictatorial measures on everyone? That's always a possibilty.

Keir Starmer is a W is the song and only thing anyone will remember about him by next year.

So we should rescind the law about children needing car child restraints because it should be the parents' job to make sure their children are safe in their car. Right? Even though clearly many parents would not do this and children would die. We can't let the government impose their protection on EVERYONE.

I was referring to the commeny " they can lock your phone". That's to do with phone theft.

To repeat myself parents are responsible for the protection of their own children..I would much rather have a rigorous public safety and information campaign then even more intrusive laws that effect everyone and are introduced by the back door.

IMHO most of the problems kids have these days dealing with real life is mostly down to too much 'protecting the children'

elf and safety diversity and equity molly coddling everything in cotton wool afraid to upset an easily offended 'they' them'

We don't need more laws to 'protect the children' there are more than enough already, we do need much more 'common sense'

And to answer the question I don't really agree with seat belt laws but at least there is some real benefit in the event of a crash.

These proposed laws only help the technocratic dictators introduce a digital panopticon.

Welcome to Orwell's 1984. The UK has turned into everything that it accuses Russia of being.

Yep, to prove you are an adult your digital ID will be required.

But 1984 passed many years ago.

And things still haven't gotten as bad as predicted in that book.
