Udon Thani Airport Parking?

Featured Replies

I did a search which came back with a thread dated 2005 so I am looking for a bit more of an update on parking at the airport.

Basically I want to leave the car there for a few days whilst I take the wife on a surprise birthday jaunt down to Singapore. I've never been Udon Thani airport so I have absolutely no idea what there is there in terms of parking. Is there any secured areas (the 2005 thread says not .. . but that was 2005!)? Is it possible to park the car for a few days (here in Vientiane it's just short term - no long term stopping)?

Or would it be more of an idea to ask the Charoen hotel where we'll stay in Udon for a couple of nights first to leave it on their car park?

Any advice appreciated - dunno if this is best in here or the travel forum.

Cheers in advance :D

Note to Mods - I have posted this also in the Issan forum but it's so far garnered only 5 views and no replys in nearly 4 hours - I think it might be a bit more successful here! :o

Hi,

I have also considered to leave my car there, but decided against it. What I did is leave it in the underground garage at Robinson, or to be precise, under the Charoensri Hotel. Was safe and trouble free. The only drawback is you'd have to go to the airport by tuctuc.

No worries I and quite a number of others I know have left our cars at Udon Airport, I did for about 10 days once. Perpare for a small walk and park away from the terminal, in a top corner, so as to avoid damage to the car by people who couldn't give a stuff what they drive their baggage trolleys into.

I'm really amazed someone hasn't set up a secure parking business. There are large amounts of parking space that does not get used.

There are no secured areas. I would leave it at the hotel. There is a guard at the entrance to the airport, but that is quite a distance from the parking area.

Hmmm very mixed reports here! I might just check with the hotel first before I go as I know the Charoen has a guy on 24 hour security on the car park. I did think about the underground at Charoensri hotel but I just don't trust Thai's and there parking ability under there not to prang it since it is pretty confined place.

Anyway cheers for the info.

I leave my pick-up truck several times/year, never had problems.

I left my car several times at the Udon Thani airport and had no problems at all. Once I left my car also at the underground carpark at the Charoensri hotel, no problem also. By the way, .the charonsri hotel has a shuttle bus service to the airport and back.......... :o ..pssstttttt
