Trump Bombs Iran Again As Strait Of Hormuz Ceasefire Starts To Collapse

The fragile ceasefire between the United States and Iran is showing signs of breaking down after fresh American airstrikes and Iranian missile attacks threatened to reignite the conflict just days after both sides agreed to halt hostilities.

Washington said it launched another wave of strikes against Iranian military targets on Saturday after accusing Tehran of repeatedly violating the ceasefire by attacking commercial shipping and U.S. interests in the Gulf. President Donald Trump warned Iran that continued aggression could result in the complete destruction of the Islamic Republic.

Trump Orders New Airstrikes

U.S. Central Command confirmed American aircraft struck Iranian missile and drone storage facilities along with coastal radar installations after what it described as repeated Iranian violations of the ceasefire agreement.

President Trump announced the operation on Truth Social, saying the strikes targeted facilities responsible for attacks on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

He warned Tehran that unless it respected the agreement, the United States would be forced to "militarily complete the job" and declared that "the Islamic Republic of Iran will no longer exist" if the violations continued.

Iran Hits U.S. Bases Across Gulf

Iran responded by confirming it had launched ballistic missiles and drones against eight infrastructure targets linked to U.S. military bases in Kuwait and Bahrain.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed the attacks were retaliation for American aggression and warned that U.S. forces would "experience hell in the coming days."

Bahrain, home to the U.S. Navy's Fifth Fleet, condemned what it described as a direct Iranian drone attack on its territory and accused Tehran of violating its sovereignty.

Strait Of Hormuz Becomes Flashpoint Again

The latest crisis began after Iran targeted vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important energy corridors.

According to U.S. officials, Iran fired four drones at commercial shipping on Thursday, with one striking the Singapore-flagged cargo vessel M/V Ever Lovely. The remaining drones were intercepted by U.S. forces.

Iran insists ships must follow routes designated by Tehran close to its coastline and has repeatedly warned vessels using alternative corridors that it cannot guarantee their safety.

The UK Maritime Trade Operations centre has now raised the threat level in the Strait of Hormuz to "substantial" while warning mariners to expect naval activity and ongoing mine-clearance operations.

Ceasefire Under Growing Pressure

Both Washington and Tehran now accuse each other of violating the week-old memorandum of understanding that was intended to begin winding down the conflict.

Iran argues the United States breached the agreement through continued military operations and support for Israeli actions in Lebanon.

Senior Iranian officials warned that any further violations would trigger an even stronger response, while Vice President JD Vance insisted that "violence will be met with violence."

The memorandum had promised safe commercial navigation through the Strait of Hormuz for 60 days while broader negotiations continued. Instead, the latest military exchanges have cast serious doubt over whether the ceasefire can survive beyond its first week.
