Likely within the next year or two. human beings in their folly will be creating something that is more intelligent than any human, and eventually likely more intelligent at an exponential level.

Suppose aliens from outer space arrive tomorrow.

They would by definition be much more advanced than humans.

So they would have the power to decide how to use us humans or even if they wanted to keep us alive at all.

Ai quite soon will be at that level.

Humans won't be in control.

AI will be in control of us.

In my view, this issue is right up there with the risk of global nuclear war (whcih sad;y is quite elevated at this time) or actually even higher.

So, what's your level or optimism or pessimism about the future of humans living as inferiors on earth?

Not mutually exclusive.

I would argue that the global passivity about AI industry gambling with all our lives is a sign of natural human stupidity

In the short term a lot of people are going to be financially hurt when some of these

companies go tits up ,too much money pumped into it,just like the .com bubble.

If it does take over people's jobs like has been forecast, there are going to be a lot

of angry folks ,do you believe Musk when he says in the future you will not need to work

as everything will be given to you...by corporations ,when is the last time you got

something for free from a greedy corporation....

The jobs thing is actually trivial when you look at the very real threat to the future of our human species.

But yeah in the shorter term the jobs part will be a massive shock to human societies and obviously a political nuclear bomb.

There is a discussion by AI thinkers about the scarcity model vs. the abundance model.

Obviously the world now works on the scarcity model. Hard to see that magically doing a 180.

Best case scenario and AI doesn't end our species, yeah there is an optimistic scenario that is basically more or less a modern twist on communism.

Only a small percentage of people needed to do work (obviously self directed creative pursuits, etc. are different) while the rest are supplied with their needs and wants without work.

Nobody knows the specifics and tining of the outcome to all this, but I find it very hard to imagine human societies giving up the scarcity model.

So yeah I'm seeing probable dystopia and probable extinction as opposed to an automated utopia.

AI as it's growing is NOT a tool for humans.
