An Indian national identified only as Mr A has filed a complaint with Pattaya police after saying he paid 43,000 rupees, about 14,800 baht, for herbal hair-growth products sold to him by three foreign men.

The complaint was made at 1.20am on 27 August 2026 to Police Lieutenant Colonel Thanya Udthong, an investigating officer at Pattaya City Police Station in Chonburi.

Mr A said the men had claimed the products would restore hair growth and leave his hair thicker and darker. Their names and nationalities were not known.

Approach on Pattaya Second Road

According to his account, he was walking on Pattaya Second Road at about 9.00pm when the three men approached and began talking to him.

They then encouraged him to buy what they described as medicine or herbal products for hair growth, claiming they could produce new hair and improve its appearance.

Mr A said he was taken to a shop, where he agreed to buy the products for 43,000 rupees. It was only later, after a friend challenged the purchase that he became suspicious and felt he may have been deceived.

He subsequently went to police to request an investigation and legal action.

Complaints have surfaced repeatedly

There are multiple similar cases involving foreign tourists being approached and sold products with exaggerated claims at high prices that have been reported and covered in the local news many times.

Officials have carried out inspections on several occasions, it said, yet groups of foreign nationals have continued to gather to sell products while making claims about their benefits and charging what is described as inflated prices.

He should be thankful this magical hair tonic did not cost 140,800 baht...lol

Just wonder if he — and also the other Indian tourist mentioned in a post — even tried the stuff, the bottles seems unused. Some gladly pays a fortune to har hair growing — so, perhaps the bottled stuff really works and is worth the price...
