Air Cambodia opens control centre for expansion

Air Cambodia has opened a new Airline Operations Control Centre in Phnom Penh as the national carrier prepares for fleet renewal and wider domestic, regional and international operations.

The facility was inaugurated at the airline’s headquarters on 24 August by Mao Havannall, the minister in charge of the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation and chairman of Air Cambodia’s board.

Central hub for daily operations

The new centre is intended to bring together real-time flight dispatch and monitoring, aircraft and crew coordination, maintenance support, ground operations and passenger-service coordination.

Air Cambodia says the centralised setup will help it manage more complex operations while improving safety, reliability, efficiency and the handling of disruptions.

Fleet plans take shape

The control centre is part of a broader modernisation programme. Air Cambodia plans to acquire Boeing aircraft to support future network growth and international connectivity, with entry into service scheduled from 2031 under its current plan.

Interim Boeing 737 MAX capacity is expected from 2029, subject to implementation and delivery schedules. The airline is also planning to introduce COMAC C909 regional aircraft for domestic and short-haul regional routes.

More aircraft and routes

The programme allows for up to 20 C909 aircraft, with initial deliveries expected to begin in 2026, subject to the agreed schedule. The airline is also working to improve passenger convenience and timetable flexibility on routes linking Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville.

It said it is coordinating with Siem Reap Angkor International Airport and other authorities to improve transfers, including immigration, security, baggage handling and passenger facilitation.

For travellers and residents, the investment points to more reliable coordination as the airline expands, alongside potential improvements to domestic connections and onward international transfers. The aircraft and route changes remain subject to the airline’s delivery and implementation timetable.

Air Cambodia says the centre will support its next phase of service development while strengthening Cambodia’s regional and international connectivity.
