Bangkok Host Bar Apologises After Woman's Head Shaved Over Unpaid Bill

A host bar in Bangkok's Pinklao area has apologised after a woman had her head shaved following a dispute over an unpaid bill reportedly approaching 60,000 baht. The venue claimed the woman could not settle the bill, had entered using false identification and had previously left other entertainment establishments without paying. Instead of reporting the matter to police, the manager allegedly had her sign an agreement permitting her hair to be cut and shaved in exchange for 3,000 baht being deducted from the outstanding bill, with the hair reportedly later given away for donation. Social activist Chalida Phalamat questioned whether the woman genuinely consented to the arrangement and argued that the venue should have allowed police to handle the alleged unpaid debt. The bar acknowledged that its manager acted rashly and plans to contact the woman's family, while social development officials have been asked to check on her well-being because her age remains unclear and she may be a minor.
