Just thought I'd let you guys know that immigration will give you a 7 day extension after 30 day Visa expires but you got to do it before it expires I know because I just had to go through it.

Had you asked for a normal 30 day extension and received a 7 day rejection of extension stamp instead? What does the stamp actually say?

There is no 7 day extension.

When someone applies for an extension and it's rejected for some reason then immigration may give you a 7 day stamp to exit Thailand.

IOfficers may give a 7 day grace period to leave the country if a further extension is denied or under specific discretionary circumstances.

"It is a denial of a application for an extension since there is no 7 day extension. The stamp is correct since you are given 7 days to leave the country"

The term grace period implies no cost. By way of example 90 reporting, where immigration should allow a 7 day grace period for in person reports after due date.

No, it does not. It simply means that you avoid the consequences of overstaying if you leave within those 7 days given. I think calling it a grace period to get out after your application for an extension has been rejected is spot on. And technically speaking, the fee the applicant pays is for the extension they apply for, because as the form states, the fee is due no matter what the outcome of the application is.

Grace period/extended time to exit, what’s the difference other than mincing words and semantics.

Hopefully the OP comes back and further explains what went before his application as regards previous visits

I'm not sure why 2 people have actually laughed at the OP......I've read many times here on this forum that a 7 days extension/grace (whatever we want to call it) is an option for immigration under certain circumstances ??
