I think he's not nearly as religious as you think. Its just an act. Remember, he once compared Trump to Hitler. I think he's unprincipled, and that's why he was picked as running mater. His lack of political principle, and experience, means he can't create support for him among members of the House, whether Republican or Democrat, and that suits the President who will be aware of calls fore the 25th Amendment from the outset. Similarly Rubio is seen to lack principle, merely by serving in a cabinet headed by a political rival who's principles he had previously repudiated. But Rubio is an experienced politician who could go someway to rehabilitating himself through either a dramatic resignation, over a point of principle, or being the recipient of a particularly unhinged sacking (Vance cannot be sacked). I suspect Rubio will not accept being shuffled off to some non-job like Noem.

But ultimately, I wouldn't worry about Vance's religious beliefs, genuine or made up. He's never going to be President.

So Vance may not really believe that the communion wafer is literally the Body of Christ, who is being sacrificed without actually dying.
