After reading about the boat sinking near Phi Phi I rang some friends to find out more details. It was the Kingfisher dive boat that sank but nobody can as yet say why. I was also told a guy has been killed in Manao, Mayo, ( spellings ) whilst snorkling after being run over by a speedboat. The authorities on Phi Phi are trying to put it down as a shark attack.

Now if the idea of this is to limit the effect on tourism then for me it would be better to say what really happened. Having people think there is a rogue shark swimming round Phi Phi attacking people is worse than some unfortunate accident with a boat.

I would certainly have thought saying a powerboat accident would have a less detrimental affect on the tourist trade than shark attack????
