george
Thailand's king taken to hospital BANGKOK: -- Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej is in hospital after feeling weak in his right side, the royal palace has said. The 79-year-old king was taken to Bangkok's Siriraj hospital on Saturday morning, where scans revealed an inadequate blood supply to his brain. The condition improved after treatment but requires further observation. King Bhumibol, the world's longest reigning current monarch, is greatly revered in Thailand and his health is a subject of great national concern. A statement from the Bureau of the Royal Household said scans had revealed "a minimal cerebral ischemia" on the left side of the king's brain, meaning that part of his brain was not receiving enough blood to function normally. "The team of royal physicians then recommended hospitalisation for treatment and observation," the statement said. "After a period of approximately eight hours of treatment, the weakness of the right leg has improved," it added. Concerns over King Bhumibol's health have deepened since he underwent spinal surgery last year, after complaining of back pain. Since that operation, the monarch has rarely appeared in public. --BBC 2007-10-

george
Thailand's Revered King Hospitalized BANGKOK: -- Thailand's 79-year-old King Bhumibol Adulyadej was hospitalized Saturday after feeling weakness on the right side of his body, the royal palace said. The king was admitted to Bangkok's Siriraj Hospital, where tests found "a slightly inadequate blood flow to the brain," a palace statement said. His "condition is improving," the statement said. It said doctors administered medicine for eight hours and were continuing to monitor him. Mr. Bhumibol, the world's longest-serving living monarch, celebrated his 60th year on the throne with lavish festivities last year. More celebrations are planned for this December, when the monarch turns 80. He underwent spinal surgery in July after suffering back pain for years from a condition known as lumbar spinal stenosis, a narrowing of the spinal canal that can be a result of aging. Mr. Bhumibol suffered injuries including a fractured rib in June, when he fell during a walk outside the palace. -- AP 2007-10-

Pattaya_Fox
Thailand`s revered King in hospital for blood clot. BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand's revered King Bhumibol Aduyadej, the world's longest reigning monarch, was treated in hospital for eight hours on Saturday and a blood clot was found in his leg, the palace announced. King Bhumibol, who will be 80 in December, was taken to hospital after complaining of weakness in his right side and tests showed a slight lessening of the blood flow to his brain, the palace said in a short statement read out on television. The statement said his leg was better after treatment and did not say whether he had been kept in hospital for observation. King Bhumibol has been a powerful force for national unity during a series of military coups and constitutional experiments and is genuinely revered in Thailand. In June, the country celebrated his 60th year on the throne. Reuters

Keep your posts short and to the point. Thank you. For your information, a cerebral ischemia is a decreased supply of blood to the brain or part of the brain caused by blockage or obstruction of the supplying blood vessels.
