It's cheaper than the price range you mentioned but you might like the Irish Clock (http://www.irishclock.com). Clean, reasonably large rooms upstairs over an Irish Pub, with wifi that works.

President Hotel has just opened . It is great. Promotion prices may still b available

Promotions ended Nov 11 new rates 1200 iso 600 and President is 2kms away.

Would recommend Charoen on Posi road (not The Chaoensri Grand next to the same name shopping mall)

Rooms refurbished 2 years ago, swimming pool, disco, excellent lunch buffet at 180 baht, 5 min walk to shopping complex, farang bars and night market.

Check internet, price around 1k baht.

i always stay at www.udonthaihouse.com its a little outside udon but very nice and quiet
