Hi,

I'm living in Bangkok and have had fun drinking at a number of girly bars - but have never taken it further, (but usually spend shit loads on drinks).  I'm interested in the options of going with a girl, but not for the night, and not at my apartment (due to certain restrictions).  O.K. it would be easy to get a girl from Sukumvit/Silom and take her to a hotel room for a while, but I'm interested in other simpler, quieter and cheaper options.

I live in the east suburbs and I wonder where the locals would go?  I see many places that I'm not quite sure what they are, e.g. places that look like nightclubs but have dark windows and are very quiet - also more obvious small but brightly lit karaoke bars where one can't easily see inside, and places advertising massages, some small but some massive (I forget the name of the road, but there's a large cluster of them in east BKK) and obviously offering more.

I'd be interested to know what these are offering, (if anything), if a farrang who speaks very little Thai could go, and what you'd get for what price.  Any info would be very welcome.

this is gonna put me in a sex tourist catergory now,just go some where like nana plaza or any big area really and ask the girl you like if she wants to short time,and will take you to a room which you have to pay a couple of hundred baht for an hour or so.........

Thanks for your help. Funnily enough I don't wanna sound like a sex tourist either.  I've lived here almost a year without indulging, but now???

Anyway, to be more specific - I'm more interested in something fairly local I can pop in and out of, Sukumvit and central BKK is a pain for me to get to - and with their beer prices I also spend all my money before I'm relaxed enough to do anything.  So I'm curious about some of the local things I've seen along Ladprao and also on (new) Petchburi road.  

I'm about to check out the web site given above, but I'd also like to hear from anyone who's popped into a local dingy Karaoke, or frequented the massage places along Petchburi or Ratchadapisek - are these aimed at businessmen with super high prices?

Anyway, please keep replying, I'm eager for more opinions.

I do not think you are going to find a karaoke bar which is relaxing. You will have to pay for your drinks, lady drinks and time for the girls to sit with you.  From what you have written I do not think this is what you are looking for.

How about just going to a massage parlour taking a VIP room and then having extras.  That way you will not be spending "shit loads on drinks".

Friendly advice there for damage! He was in Thailand a year and he doesnt know where girly bars are....must of passed them...now nearly 4 years later I bet he knows where they all are? Wonder if he is still here or he got the rash and fecked off...still around eastender?

Random tip:

Forget any sort of massage if you've got a lady at home, unless you can shower at home before she gets back. Why? Until you do, you'll smell like an unusual brand of shampoo, soap, oil, etc...
