What's the correct Thai spelling for "Expat"

Here the spelling is "เอกซ์-แพทส์" for "Expats".

I second withnail's version.

Although เอ็กซ์แผท sounds more precise, the use of ผ would give it an odd look.

I'd use เอ็กซ์แพท because it seems more 'normal' by using พ. However the sound is a tone higher than the English word, because it reads the same as เอ็กซ์แพ๊ท. I'd still choose it for the look (if there is such a thing as making it more blend-in for a totally foreign word!)
