Transfering One Year Multi O Visa To New Passport

Featured Replies

I just got my new passport after applying for renewal from from the chiang mai US embassy. They gave me a letter to give thai immigration asking them to transfer my "immigration stamp" to my new passport.

I'm sure this includes the entry stamp and entry card, but do they transfer the one year multi entry non immigrant "O" visa also. I heard you have to carry old passports if you want to get a 90 day stamp when you enter.

They should transfer all of the visa information to the new passport.

There should be no reason to carry an old passport once imm has transferred the info.

It's a routine thing that they do often. It shouldn't take much time and there shouldn't be a fee for it.

They do not transfer visas from one passport to another in my understanding - so a multi entry visa would require you hold old passport to use it.

Lopburi3 is correct. I have 3 passports, 2 expired while living here and only the first one shows a visa in it. The other 2 show the transfer of permission to stay stamps and the original visa information.

Quite right all. I recently did it in Chiang Mai and no visa stamps were transferred. What was put in the new passport was stamps that summarized all pertinent information from my old passport that described my current status. Entry card was moved to new passport.

What is the adress of the immigration office that does this transfer? Followed a link in the sticky thread but it only gave a phone number...

The sticky thread should perhaps not say 'addresses' anymore.

Anyway, via another link it was found, in the portal: http://www.thaivisa.com/376.0.html
