david96
What were your reasons for getting married in Thailand over your home country? Where they political, economic or social reasons Mine were all three.
Crossy
We married in the UK (before the restrictions on getting married on a tourist visa) if I were to do it again it would definately be in Thailand, slightly more paperwork but considerably less expense. ChangMaiSausage
Everything is easier, less complicated and cheaper. All of the above is applicable to me but for me but the guests it was harder, more complicated and expensive!!! hehe
thaihome
What were your reasons for getting married in Thailand over your home country?Where they political, economic or social reasons ... None of the three. Expediency. We were living in Thailand at the time Note we have never done the ceremony, so it was certainly cheap even though we had an agency take care of paperwork and just had to show up at amphur to sign. The legislation covering marriage in Thailand and the fact that I could reside in Thailand if I wished in the future. My home country is Australia. Expat2B
We got married in Thailand since we wanted a buddhist ceremony too and this was far easier to arrange in Thailand. It was also easier for my wifes family to attend our wedding and for my family to fly out to Thailand, than if we tried to bring my wife's family to the UK for the ceremony. Mine where mainly the timing, ease (rather than get a Fiance Visa) and economical Oh yes forgot. I already owned a Wok (although never used) so didn't want a reception in the Uk, where 99% of the pressie's would have been a Wok Edited November 27, 2007 by mrbojangles
