What do you consider cheap? Cheap lodging in Thailand and cheap lodging in Singapore are not really the same thing.

You can get some cheap hotels in Little India, try Deskar Road and it's offshoot :D

Seriously, Bencoolen Street has some cheaper (S$100/night kind of cheap) hotels and not too far from Orchard, but best thing to do is go to the hotels desk at the airport after you land, they have a list of them all.

Bum Boat ride

Singapore Zoo

Night Safari

Jurong Birdpark

Clarke Quay/Boat Quay

Four Floors

Cycling at East Coast

Ride the MRT and LRT

Take a Taxi from Victoria street over to Johor

Sit in a McDonalds and do your homework :D

Plenty to do, you could spend 2 days in Far East Plaza alone. :o

Enjoy

Actually, try the Battle Box at Fort Canning Hill, it is the place the Japanese surrended to the Allied forces in WWII, they have some great hologram type things to see what actually went on inside the bunkers, quite interesting.

It is believed to be the final resting place of a king from somewhere too, quite a famous one but the name slips my mind.

Go see the Elephant Statue that HM King Chulalongkorn gave to Singapore during his visit, it is near the old parliament building behind the statue of Stamford Raffles.

In that same basic neighborhood but on Kitchener Rd is the Tai Hoe Hotel. It has small but immaculate rooms usually for a rate of S$50/night for a single. This hotel is run by a Chinese family, is just around the corner form Mustafas (a must-see if you've never shopped there!) and is quite close to the Farrer Park MRT station on the new North-East Line

i found this link that should provide you with more than enough entertainment for a two-day trip 10 Things You Must Do In Singapore

i have assumed that you are going for the cultural experience & NOT a sex tour... but if i am mistaken then let me know... cos i can supply a list of 'alternative' things to do if you wish :o
